The Employment Project
The Employment Project will help individuals who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless
identify career options, make choices, and ultimately gain stability through employment. The Employment Project will offer
career counseling, employment preparation and financial literacy training, free voice mail, a mailing address, networking
opportunities with businesses and professionals, and job placement and retention support to homeless and low-income adults
who want to become employed. Volunteers teachers will provide additional assistance and support to program participants who
are engaged in job searches or enrolled in our prep for GED classes or other educational programs.
To
facilitate their (re)entry into the workforce, The Employment Project will offer employment preparation training, career services,
and basic needs assistance, employer outreach, referrals to training (thru our partnering companies in their professional
line of work), and job placement and retention services to homeless and low-income individuals throughout Owensboro.
Though the Career Connections initiative, individuals seeking additional training and education
can access our Employment Resource Room which will be open to the public and provides computers, a telephone and fax machine,
and a library of employment-related literature.
In collaboration with partnering
companies in Owensboro, The Employment Project will facilitating job training and placement with other companies and fields
of work.
